Proper Way To Train Dog!

Having a well-trained dog can provide your home with a happy balance. By being trained, you and your dog can relate to each other and where the other one is coming from. After training your dog, you will feel more comfortable when you have visitors, take him out for walks, or leave him alone at home. Although it may not be easy, the time you devote to teaching your dog manners, tricks, and the proper way to do things will be well spent.

Make sure that both you and your dog enjoy the daily training. If you do so, your dog will feel closer to you, and even respond to training better. While you can have fun during training sessions, it's a good idea to spend a little time simply playing.

If you catch your puppy chewing on something he isn't suppose to be chewing, stop him immediately. When your puppy knows what he is allowed to chew on, he is less likely to chew on your belongings when left to his own devices.

Spaying or neutering your dog is recommended at six months of age. You should do this at the same time you first take the dog to obedience training. A dog that is fixed will be more willing to learn. This will give your dog a happier and healthier life and you will have many years of happiness with your pet.

If you have guests over, be sure to inform them about your dogs training so that they will treat him the same way you do. These things can cause a dog to attempt to establish dominance and maybe even jump on guests.

Try to challenge your pet on a regular basis. Test the dog occasionally to check his memory, even though both of you know that he remembers his commands.

Decide on a single phrase to use when housebreaking your new puppy. Each time you let your dog out to relieve himself, use a phrase such as "go potty" so that he associates going outside with going to the bathroom.

Dogs tend to concentrate on one thing to the exclusion of everything else unless that concentration is interrupted. If you do it enough times, your dog will wait for your signals instead of focusing on other things.

You should use positive motivation when you are training your dog. Give your dog a reward, especially when he learns a new skill or learns to refrain from doing something bad. Negative training techniques and punishment will only serve to garner fear, and a dog who is afraid is not one who is willing to please.

Keep your dogs tied at a safe distance from each other. The two chains could get tangled up. This could panic you dogs as he tries to get free and he could potentially hurt himself. If two dogs' chains become entangled, it is possible that one or both dogs could experience difficulty breathing or even strangulation.

Training is not a time for you to punish your dog. This is a time to show the dog what he should be doing in place of the behavior you are trying to correct. Use positive reinforcement. Training is about teaching your dog, and building a good relationship with him.

If your dog has separation anxiety, it's important that it learns to connect with more than one person. It will relieve your pet's stress and anxiety if it has other important human relationships in its life.

You will be amazed at the results once you start applying these tips. If you feel like you and your dog are having a hard time, try some of this advice..
